Summary

Detail

They started by opening the doors to the south and finding two storage rooms. There was a woman hiding in the Western room. Her name was Evie. She was terribly afraid but then slowly relaxed when the party told her they were there to rescue them. She asked about the children and they told her they were fine, in the next room. She went out there to find them alive and well and was visibly relieved. Back in the Western storage room, there was a trap door with a bucket hanging on rope to be lowered down into a well. There were lots of crates and barrels and supplies in general. They told the rescued hungry slaves that whatever food stuffs they found, they should eat and regain their strength. The company headed upstairs to deal with the next level. The slaves had told them there were many more slaves up there.

The company moved back to the stairs and Kipp moved up quietly first with Audra staying back a little trying not to take away from his stealth. Brandy followed behind Audra with Pyreece next, then Oglesby and Elenor. As Kipp reached the top, there were sounds of someone being abused. That didn't sit well with him so he moved in quickly to stop it. Audra followed close behind. Brandy and Pyreece moved to the top of the room. They found an Orc beating an older man who was tied to a column. Kipp and Audra engaged the Orc while Brandy and Pyreece engaged another Orc coming out of a room to the east. They made short work of Nubgrod but Snikscab took a few more rounds.

During the battle, Corn-pop, the old man being tortured, was freed. He made his way to the southern room releasing the rest of the slaves and shouting to them, to fight. Willoughby and Duncan, others of the captured slaves, charged out to help. The rest stayed in, reluctant to make any move. Corn-pop opened the door to the West, having grabbed up Nubgord's scimitar, and charged in to fight the boss on this floor. The room was empty though. Snikscab finally fell. The rest of the slaves were told they were free. Pyreece looked to see if she recognized anyone from Dame Gold's home and did recognize a few. Dame Gold was not there though. She had been taken off but no one knew to where. She may have been taken to be sold. Some of them recognized the company of heroes and were very thankful that they'd come to help them.

There were some brief discussions about where they were. They'd come by boat part of the way but were blindfolded for the walk from the boats to here. Brandy told them the boats were Southeast of here. They wanted to head back but Audra suggested that they gather food and supplies first and wait. They could all go back as one group. Kipp and Audra checked the northern room. It was a nice room, well appointed with a womanly vibe. There was no one in there. There was a desk. Kipp found a note and read it. It said,

Glyrtheil,

It was a pleasure to see you again. It is my wish that you could come join me here. Or at the very least come to Elredd. You would be away from that foreign land. Our visits could be more frequent and our pleasures more extended. Imagine being away from that mutant Brugrock. He does a good job I suppose, but his nature.. That smell alone is more than you should have to bear. Use the Elemental Eye. The priests will not impede you. It is my desire that you join me.

S.K.

They checked the rest of the open roof and found the bodies of the Orcs that Brandy had fire on from the quarry and put down. They told the slaves where the supplies were on the main floor and then proceeded to the basement. The stairs opened into a small room with dire wolves and goblins. They fought and killed the initial set but more poured in from both the Western and Southern tunnels. They broke out of the confinement of the stair case and then made short work of the rest of them, all but one that escaped back down the tunnels.

They went through the tunnels in both directions and found they met up again in a large chamber with a pool of water and a fire burning. The goblin that fled seemed to have vanished into thin air. There was no sign of him. After looking around many of the spaces where he could be hiding, they finally found him and dispatched him. They used potions to try and heal back some. They had thought the stables near the mine might have had a back way into the building upstairs. When they came downstairs, they'd thought they'd find a way into the stables but that didn't appear to be the case. Oglesby still believed so he and Kipp started searching for secret doors. They focused on a very flat wall on the north side. It was there that Oglesby found the door and opened it.

They were set upon by an Orc and a Dire Wolf. Oglesby moved in and cleared the door so the rest could get in there. They all moved in and took on multiple Orcs, Dire Wolves, Goblins, and lastly, Slag the blacksmith. They fought and killed them all. Once inside, they found three more slaves and told them they were freed. The slaves told them about the rest of the rooms. They were storage rooms for supplies for the horses and the blacksmith. There was one room with a set of stairs leading into a large pool. There was a ladder on the other side. Oglesby checked it out.

They gathered in the main room intending to move out and into the mines but they needed a lot of healing. They rested here and regained their spells. The slaves helped with the watch. Later that evening, when their rest was done, Pyreece healed Kipp and Audra quite a bit and even a little to Oglesby and herself. They sent the slaves back up the stairs and had them join the rest. After that, they set out for the mines. They snuck over there easily enough since everyone outside was dead. They could look into the mines and see some light. They also heard the sounds of digging. They snuck into the first chamber and found quite a few Orcs waiting for them. They'd obviously knew that they were coming and had prepared to defend the mine.

Kipp and Oglesby made it further into the mine and engaged four Orcs. As Audra moved to help, she was intercepted by another Orc and turned her attention to him. She and Pyreece took him on and two human guards that also moved up to attack them. Brandy and Elenor picked targets in both groups to fire on and slowly their defenses fell and the company prevailed. From where they stood, they could see many paths out of this main chamber. They also spied a small chamber to the Southeast that was likely a guard room.

This is where this session ended.
