| - | As they headed out, they were slowly climbing higher. The snow was thick, deep, and made the traveling slow going. It's quite a ways up. It's not as open up here as there were rocky outcroppings and ridges along the way. Cal, Eryn, and Xor were all able to move around pretty well. Everyone else was slowed a bit. Cal took the lead, looking for potential ambushes. He didn't see any sign of traffic through here recently. | + | As they headed out, they were slowly climbing higher. | - | About half way up, they heard a sound, Eryn recognized it as the roar she'd heard two nights before. It sounded like it was coming from down the mountain. She turned to face behind them, looking for any sign of a creature but saw nothing. It sounded closer than when she had heard it two nights ago. Cassandra watched from the back, sword and shield drawn, and ready. Symon moved up closer to Xor. They heard the roar again but this time it sounded a little bit closer. Cal and Xor believed they were being tracked. They scattered off to the sides, up into the rocks and crouched down, hiding. They'd hoped they could ambush it. Cal, Eryn, and Xor tried to cover their tracks. They got quiet and waited. After a short time, they heard a snuffing sound. As it came into sight, it stopped and sniffed the air. It was huge. After a moment, it seemed to catch their scent and turned and charged. | + | About half way up, they heard a sound, Eryn recognized it as the roar she'd heard two nights before. | - | Symon set off a fireball on the creature. Cassandra was already on the move, charging the creature. The fireball went off and then she got to it and hit it. Cal, Eryn, and Angelique all fired at it and missed or simply hit one of it's scales causing no damage. | + | Symon set off a fireball on the creature. | They finally decided it was a some sort of aberration, a creature created with some part of it being dragon and some part polar bear. When Cal hit it with Dragon Bane, it didn't seem to hit it any better. It must not be enough percentage of Dragon to cause the additional damage to it when hit. It appeared that the creatures had set up an ambush. That was a little scary. Symon took some of the fur for possible use as a spell component. He examined it for possible weaknesses and determined that fire was it's weakness. Like everyone else, Loraine had never seen one before either. Eryn sat on the top of the ridge and checked all around. She didn't see anything. She stayed there as overwatch until everyone was ready to go. Angelique did some more healing. They gathered together and set out again. | They finally decided it was a some sort of aberration, a creature created with some part of it being dragon and some part polar bear.
